Our History

Biocore’s mission is to provide the highest level of engineering and analytics expertise to clients dedicated to the understanding and reduction of injury. We've been dedicated to this mission since the inception of our company in 2002.

  1. 2002 - 2007

    Biocore is formed by Jeff Crandall and Richard Kent as an extension of their work out of University of Virginia Center for Applied Biomechanics. Initial focus is centered around automotive safety, consulting and research.

  2. 2008 - 2012

    Biocore begins working with professional football in the United States on Lower Extremity (LEX) research. BEAST outdoor testing of professional football playing surfaces begins.

  3. 2013

    Biocore hires it's first full-time employee.

  4. 2014 - 2015

    Beginning of the NFL Engineering Roadmap. Equipment testing capabilities are expanded to include:

    • Helmet Impact Testing
    • In-Lab Turf Testing
    • Footwear Performance and Safety
    • Thigh-pad Impact Testing
  5. 2016

    Advanced Sensors Instrumented Mouthguard program begins. Equipment testing is expanded to include:

    • Flex Testing of Footwear
    • Shoulder Pad Impact Testing
  6. 2017

    Computational Modeling and 3D rendering services are added.

  7. 2019

    Data Analytics team is established to begin the development of the Digital Athlete program.

  8. 2020

    BEAST v2 product development begins.

  9. 2021

    The Performance Lab is launched. Biocore begins 3D Body Scanning for on-field replication of player performance and actions.

  10. 2023 Latest

    The Digital Athlete software is launched. Biocore merges with Tempus Ex Machina to create Infinite Athlete.
